Coordinated Department Special Projects Manager

About the Opportunity
The Special Projects Manager supports the Coordinated Campaign Department by project managing high-priority initiatives that cut across departments and require strong coordination, communication, and execution. The Special Projects Manager will work with the National Coordinated Campaigns Director, the Deputy Coordinated Campaigns Director for Program and Leadership Development, and internal stakeholders to create, oversee, and support the production of guidance, resources, and tools delivered to statewide Coordinated Campaigns. This role will be responsible for working across departments to produce high-quality, strategic content. This role also serves as a central organizational hub for the team, ensuring projects, tasks, and internal communications are well-managed, aligned, and moving forward efficiently.

Responsibilities will generally include:
  • Lead and execute special projects from planning through implementation across multiple teams or departments
  • Prepare state-facing guidance, project updates, and presentations to provide operational support to leadership
  • Own Coordinated Team administrative and project management systems, including maintaining the task manager, tracking priorities and deadlines, and ensuring follow-through on action items
  • Serve as the primary owner of internal, cross-department communications, including sending weekly team updates and keeping stakeholders aligned on goals and timelines
  • Develop and maintain systems for documentation, note-taking, and sharing materials to support effective collaboration and accountability
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks or bottlenecks, and troubleshoot challenges to keep work on track
  • Ensure all projects adhere to organizational policies, processes, and best practices of the Department
Qualifications
Ideal applicants will have two or more cycles of experience at a senior level on statewide campaigns, or have transferable project management experience and strong writing skills.
  • Minimum of two cycles of experience on campaigns, with at least one of those cycles serving in a staff management role, or equivalent experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience synthesizing information for team-wide updates and sharing information with external stakeholders
  • Comfortability with producing content at a high volume to varying audiences while upholding a strict level of quality control and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders across departments
  • Proven ability to manage administrative systems and create processes that improve team efficiency
  • High attention to detail and strong follow-through on tasks and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., task managers, Google Workspace)
The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $100,000 annualized.
This position is based in Washington DC.
