We’re looking for someone who brings positive energy and a deep commitment to promoting fresh food, building community connections, and advancing food equity in Boston’s neighborhoods.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Loading produce onto mobile markets and arranging it on shelves for display.
  • Checking produce quality and ensuring that it meets company standards.
  • Checking out customers and helping them with their purchases.
  • Training volunteers on the tasks assigned to them and the company’s policies.
  • Bagging and restocked produce as needed.
  • Distributing online orders as delegated.
  • Organizing the warehouse after produce load-in/out.
  • Maintaining Fresh Truck equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Conducting inventory checks and completing online inventory reports to ensure that products are adequately stocked.
  • Cleaning mobile markets at the end of your shift.
  • Answering customer questions and helping them with their needs.
  • Acting as an ambassador and educator for SNAP/HIP/EBT and other local/state/federal public benefits that increase people's purchasing power (appropriate training will be provided).
  • Working on at least one working group or special project to design and implement projects that impact the community, including social action activities, operations projects, and support work to improve our environmental footprint.

Who you are

  • Willingness to grow, adapt, and learn alongside Fresh Truck as it evolves.
  • You embrace working within diverse community settings and with a strong sense of social justice,
  • Being multilingual (Spanish, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Russian) is a huge plus,
  • You understand and are prepared to troubleshoot emergent issues/challenges that come along with working with vulnerable populations. Additional training will be provided.
  • Relentless organizer (community and operational) capable of improvising to ensure positive, justice-based market experience as well as operational delivery and fulfillment
  • Have the drive to show up and do the work in hot and very cold conditions, remembering that the work that we do is important and necessary.
  • Background and knowledge in volunteer and community work are a plus.
  • Grit - you’re willing to get your hands dirty, comfortable with some heavy lifting
  • Some experience in one or a combination of the following: customer service, operations and supply chain management, food/grocery retail, and/or food service; experience with an early-stage startup is a plus.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift ~50lb regularly
  • Work collaboratively across the Fresh Truck team
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule Monday through Saturday (25 hours; overtime available when necessary)
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other machinery if necessary
  • Ability to work in wet, hot, and cold environments
  • Positive attitude and love for food and people

What you’ll get

  • Work with a dynamic, dedicated, and diverse team to make it easier for people to get the food they need to be healthy, happy, and hopeful
  • The compensation for this position is $23/hour
  • Free fruits and vegetables from Fresh Truck’s mobile market
