Location: The Training Strategies Manager may work remotely. This position can also be based in GLSEN’s headquarters in New York City or from our Washington DC office. This position will require domestic travel (20%).

Annual Salary: $65,000 - $75,000

About You:

We are looking for individuals willing to think boldly about the future of K-12 education and how best to serve LGBTQ+ students. GLSEN seeks colleagues committed to advancing the needs, opportunities, outcomes, and success of LGBTQ+ students as the foundation for success for all students. We need individuals that work to build and strengthen partnerships that hold and reflect GLSEN’s commitment to advancing racial, gender and disability justice and have a track record of working across differences to advance equitable and just outcomes in education for students experiencing marginalization. Position Objective:

Under the guidance of the Deputy Executive Director, Programs and Powerbuilding and in partnership with colleagues across the national organization, the Training Strategies Manager will work to ensure that GLSEN capacity building participants have access to the tools, resources, training, and support needed in order to advance intentional inclusion across sectors. This position will be responsible for building out GLSEN’s national training program. The ideal candidate should be highly skilled in:

  • Developing and implementing LGBTQ+ inclusive instructional content and resources that center racial, gender and disability justice.
  • Creating programming and resources for a broad audience of stakeholders that center the experiences and needs of LGBTQ+ individuals most impacted by structural oppression - especially those who are BIPOC, transgender, nonbinary, two spirit individuals, and students with disabilities.
  • Managing and implementing training programs, virtually and in person. Locally, and nationally.
  • Working with a wide array of diverse constituents.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop, implement and evaluate GLSEN’s Intentional Inclusion training program and capacity building initiatives.
  • Provide strategic guidance to the development and implementation of GLSEN training modules.
  • Provide direct supervisory support to the Training Strategies Associate.
  • Ensure consistent evaluation of GLSEN training programs and capacity building initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to engage current, new and prospective GLSEN training participants.

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience developing and implementing LGBTQ+ inclusive instructional content and resources that demonstrate an understanding and experience of topics surrounding LGBTQ+ educational equity, intersectionality, and social justice education
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Proven ability to work with educators, administrators and local volunteers/advocates, grow their participation, expand their skills effectiveness
  • A minimum 5-7 years’ experience with progressive leadership responsibility within education organizations, community organizing/coalition building, or youth development programming
  • Proven experience designing and facilitating original content including trainings, modules, webinars, and tools to build racial, gender and disability justice outcomes in education
  • Ability to work as a part of a cross functional national staff, coordinate effectively across departments, and act as a trusted messenger between national and local constituents
  • Excellent management skills and the ability to mentor and lead
  • Effective experience with project management
  • Manage multiple and competing demands, under the pressure of multiple tight deadlines and budgetary constraints
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Collaborative, innovative, and resourceful mindset to leverage opportunities to achieve shared goals
  • Ability to travel several times per year

The Education Programs Manager may be a remote position GLSEN has offices in NYC and D.C.,up to 20% of this position will include travel when it is safe to do so. During the Coronavirus pandemic this role is 100% remote while social distancing orders are in place.
