Graphicacy, a data visualization, design and interactive studio, is recruiting an experienced data visualization engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate for this role will be passionate about innovative front-end solutions and capable of engineering cutting-edge digital experiences for clients. This position is for an engineer who is as effective writing code as they are in talking to clients and collaborating with designers, project managers, and other engineers. Our team is distributed throughout the US and this position is fully remote.About the Role:- Craft innovative and performant engineering solutions: build interactive and static data visualizations, online applications and information graphics; help turn client ideas into executable solutions; collaborate with developers and designers.- Be an empathic technology guide: help clients understand what’s possible; translate requirements into interactively designed interfaces; provide technical documentation or summary guides.- Help make Graphicacy better: provide input on technology toolkit and approaches; efficiently troubleshoot and triage issues; support existing software with quick issue resolution.About You:- 5–7 years’ experience as a software or data visualization engineer.- Advanced knowledge/experience with modern SPA JS frameworks such as React, Angular, and/or Vue.- Experience with D3, canvas, or other visualization libraries and tools; experience building map-based visualizations (Mapbox, Leaflet, OpenLayers, etc.).- Passion for and experience in data visualization/information graphics.- Familiarity with full-stack technologies (Python, NodeJS, AWS/Google Cloud/Azure).- Ability to lead scoping and development conversations for technical and non-technical participants alike.- Fluent in both Javascript and Typescript; experience creating suitable front-end engineering methods and data models in alignment with designs.- Experience participating and/or leading discovery processes; planning and implementing custom technical solutions from scratch; developing accessible code with tests and documentation; mentoring and guiding other engineers.Bonus:- Experience with holistic engineering planning and strategy that integrates back-end and front-end requirements; static site generators (Gatsby, Next.js); Three.js/React Three Fiber/WebGL; statistical analysis (SQL, R, Python); animation libraries (react-spring, GSAP).About Us:Graphicacy is a mission-driven data visualization and design studio in Washington, DC, with Brooklyn, and Los Angeles.
