Liftoff is seeking a talented Data Director to join our growing team.

Liftoff is an innovative digital fundraising and communications firm. Our clients are statewide and local political campaigns, advocates, non-profits, and changemakers working to advance Democratic priorities.

The ideal candidate will thrive on creating and maintaining tools and systems, on building and optimizing internal processes for ingesting newly acquired email contacts, on creating reporting structures and generating accurate and visually appealing data outputs, and—most of all—on partnering with the email and leadership teams to figure out how we bring more science to the art of fundraising.

This is a compelling opportunity for an enterprising and mission-driven individual to build out a critical function on an exciting and fast-growing team. If you love manipulating data to set organizational strategy and elect Democrats, we would love to talk to you.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage cross-department collaboration on needs of teams managing data tasks
  • Manage and build upon Liftoff’s infrastructure for seamless reporting internally and externally, utilizing data from ActBlue, advertising data, email platforms, and broadcast and peer-to-peer texting platforms.
  • Manage and build tools to track client performance and enable fundraisers to assess client strategy and make clear decisions.
  • Manage strategy on reporting and analytics and working with leadership on growth opportunities
  • Project management/workflow management and task assignment
  • Mentor and manage team of analysts/engineers
  • Manage external contracts and vendor relationships

Experience we look for:

  • Passion for Democratic causes, whether candidates or other;
  • 4-6 years of work experience with at least 1 cycle in digital fundraising;

Coding and Data Experience:

  • Strong professional knowledge of SQL including query optimization techniques.
  • Proficiency in R or Python with specific experience using libraries such as pandas and numpy for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Experience with dbt, particularly for building efficient data models and optimizing query performance.
  • Experience working with existing APIs to connect and extract data from various CRM platforms including NGP, Everyaction, and/or Actionkit
  • Understanding of relational database concepts and practical experience with Google BigQuery or AWS Redshift

Tech Stack Experience:

  • Hands-on experience with data visualization tools such as Google Looker Studio, Tableau, or Power BI for creating actionable insights from complex datasets
  • Experience building or maintaining data-intensive web applications on cloud architecture (AWS or Google Cloud Platform)
  • Understanding of ETL processes and data pipeline management

Salary and Benefits:

The salary for this position is $100,000-$120,000

We also offer a generous benefits package:

  • Unlimited vacation days
  • Federal holidays off (11-12 total days, Indigenous Peoples Day in off-cycle years)
  • Employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Flexible work schedules and the option to work remotely anywhere within the United States and its territories with broadband internet
  • Annual professional development stipend
  • 401k benefits with match after one year of employment
