Maisha Meds is hiring! We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead our Point of Sale (POS) product and, over time, shape new AI-enabled product capabilities that build on our network.

About Maisha Meds

Maisha Meds is an organization dedicated to improving health care in Africa through best-in-class technology.

Founded in 2017, Maisha Meds has created the largest digital network of private pharmacies and clinics across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Nigeria, and Zambia through our mobile software. Our platform not only helps these providers improve business by making sales, managing inventory, and tracking patients. It also reimburses them for providing high-quality care for malaria, family planning, and HIV prevention at discounted costs.

Maisha Meds supports more than 25 million patient visits every year and has provided more than one million quality-assured reimbursements to-date. We harness data from our network of pharmacies and clinics to reveal health and market trends, which allows us to design better solutions that work for the people we serve. We have worked with leading academic institutions such as UC Berkeley, Emory University, and KEMRI to evaluate the effectiveness of our programs. Research shows that our system is able to significantly increase appropriate malaria case management and the uptake of long-acting contraceptives.

Our work is powered by a diverse group of top-tier global health funders and partners. We recently demonstrated the sustainability of our model through a flagship initiative with the Lagos State Government, where the government adopted our platform for malaria and fever care via a World Bank loan and subsequently direct state budgetary support. Support from our current and future partners will allow us to expand our digital network and deliver high-quality sustainable healthcare to millions of patients. And we continue to demonstrate impact of 4-7x improvement in quality and effective healthcare via randomized trials and ongoing program data.

About the role

The Senior Product Manager, POS will be responsible for shaping and evolving Maisha Meds' Point of Sale system, which supports the daily operations of pharmacies and clinics across our markets.

The role begins with ownership of the POS system used daily by pharmacies and clinics. As the product organization evolves, the scope will expand to include leadership of new product initiatives that build on our data and system, including AI-enabled capabilities as they move from ideation into delivery.

You will work closely with engineering, design, programs, operations, and country teams to clarify what problems are most important to solve, define what success looks like, and guide teams through the tradeoffs required to get there. This role will suit someone who has seen products succeed and stall, and can adjust course without waiting for perfect information or consensus.

This is a senior role with a high degree of autonomy. You will report to the Chief Product Officer and work closely with leaders across the organization to ensure product decisions are grounded in real user needs and aligned with company priorities.

The role is based in one of our operating countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, or Nigeria), with regular travel to work directly with country teams and pharmacies. Work permit sponsorship is available in all four of these countries, and we are keen to receive applications from top-tier product talent globally.

What you'll own

  • End-to-end product leadership for the POS system: own the strategy, roadmap and execution for the product that powers 5,000+ pharmacies across 4 countries
  • Product outcomes and business metrics: Define and hit OKRs that reflect both user value and business impact
  • User understanding across segments: Drive focus by deeply understanding different pharmacy archetypes
  • Multi-market product decisions:
Balance local market needs with platform consistency
  • Iterative and data-driven decision-making: You will build out our experimentation function to drive further product growth and rigor
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with engineering, design, country teams, programs, and operations to clarify problems, define success, and navigate tradeoffs
  • New product initiatives over time: As the product organization evolves, lead new data and AI-enabled capabilities from ideation through delivery

Minimum requirements

  • 6+ years as a product manager with a proven track record of building, launching, and scaling products at a world-class product company
  • Experience designing and driving cross-functional processes and teams
  • Comfortable engaging directly with customers and third-party partners
  • Comfortable working with imperfect data and making decisions under uncertainty
  • Ability to influence without relying on formal authority, through clear reasoning and trust
  • Sound judgment under uncertainty, with a mindset that values questioning assumptions and revisiting established approaches when evidence changes
  • Expertise in data-driven product decision-making with dynamic experimentation

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience building fintech, healthtech, or ERP systems
  • Experience designing products for African markets or similar emerging economies with intermittent connectivity and diverse user contexts
  • Experience building AI-enabled capabilities in production environments, where you're accountable for downstream effects and not just the initial idea
  • Experience working with operational teams or managing processes that bridge product and operations

What to expect in the hiring process

  • A 30-minute introductory call on Google Meet
  • First round product interview (60-90 minutes) with two product team members
  • Second round interview (60-90 minutes) with three engineering leaders
  • Written evaluation
  • 30 minute conversation with the teams that live with product decisions daily - operations, customer experience, programs.
  • 45 minutes with an exec team member
