Responsibilities

  • Oversee and guide production of ads, from pre-production to final delivery, including video, audio, and static digital ads, alongside Senior Creative Director. Ensure that all creative deliverables are submitted on time, on budget, and error-free.
  • Provide and align on creative feedback on every draft of creative.
  • Assess client feedback for budget, deadline, and skill feasibility.
  • Suggest creative solutions to strategic problems.
  • Assign creative projects to a team of internal and freelance designers, editors, animators, and post houses.
  • Monitor capacity of all design team members to assess availability for assignments.
  • Hire and produce voiceover talent.
  • Identify, assess, onboard, and oversee new freelancers as needed, including production companies for live shoots.
  • Track live action footage deliveries.
  • Source, track, and license editorial and stock assets, including video footage, photos, and music.
  • Provide art direction and references for video scripts in early drafting and at the beginning of production.
  • Brainstorm unique script ideas and visual approaches alongside full creative team, including scriptwriters.
  • Identify and troubleshoot process roadblocks and inefficiencies.
  • Estimate budgets and deadlines for creative deliverables.
  • QA all drafts and final deliverables for errors and platform specifications.
  • Complete time sheets on a daily basis.

Qualifications

Required skills include:

  • Minimum of five years of experience as a creative director (working in video or film) or video producer. Political design and/or advertising experience is a plus.
  • Experience producing organic and/or paid digital ads for a variety of platforms, lengths, and formats, in both live action and motion graphics formats.
  • Experience with an intense and quickly-moving production pipeline, managing up to 20-40 creative projects at once.
  • Experience managing very quick (2-3 day) turnarounds for video.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively.
  • Familiarity with digital advertising best practices; current design, animation, and editing trends; and political advertising creative tropes.
  • Familiarity with Asana or other similar project management software.
  • Passion for pushing the boundaries of political advertising creative and making political ads that take creative risks and win elections.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and humble, with an understanding that creative teams produce their best work together.
  • Well-developed personal and professional creative taste. A vision and a strong point of view about how political ads can be better.
  • Passion for and focus on electing more Democrats up and down the ballot and supporting Democratic-aligned causes, issues, and ballot measures.

Hours Expectations

This is a full-time role during a busy election cycle, requiring 40-55 hours of work each week. Night and weekend work is expected, especially August-October.

Location

This is a remote, freelance/contract position, and we encourage all U.S.-based candidates to apply. Candidates able to work West Coast hours (whether or not they are West Coast-based) are preferred.
